The screen layout

Sidebar on the left, a top bar with search and alerts, and the page in the middle.

Every screen shares this frame
1268
  1. 1
    Top bar
Panel toggle, breadcrumb, global search (⌘K), quick add, guide, theme, notifications bell, your role, sign out.
  2. 2
    Sidebar
Modules grouped by area. A lock icon means view-only for your role. Click the panel icon to collapse it; on phones it slides in.
  3. 6
    Page
Title, lead text and actions in the page head; content below. Lists get a filter bar on top and pagination at the bottom.
  4. 8
    Your profile
Bottom of the sidebar: click it to open Settings → Account.

The breadcrumb always names the module you are in. The bell shows a live count of unread alerts; click it for the last few and a link to the full feed.

Lists, filters and pages

Large lists load one page at a time from the server; the filters, page and sort live in the address bar.

A paged list
123456
  1. 1
    Page head
Title, count and the primary action (New …).
  2. 2
    Filter bar
Search box plus dropdowns (status, type, date range). Shown / total counts on the right; Clear resets everything.
  3. 3
    View switch
Table by default; cards, boards, grid or calendar where they exist. Your choice is remembered per module, and ?view= in a link forces one.
  4. 4
    Rows
Click a row for its detail drawer or page. Cells with a pencil-on-hover are editable in place.
  5. 5
    Column sort
Click a heading to sort; click again to reverse.
  6. 6
    Pagination
    “Showing 26–50 of 313”, rows-per-page (25/50/100), previous/next and numbered pages.
  • The address bar is the source of truth: /guests?q=ann&tier=Gold&page=2 can be bookmarked, shared or reopened with Back/Forward.
  • Typing in the search box waits a moment before querying, so you can keep typing.
  • Live updates refresh the page you are looking at when someone else changes a record.

Editing in place

Many cells, kanban cards and matrix toggles save the moment you change them.

  • Inline cells: click a status, tier, priority or assignee cell to change it. It saves on change; Esc reverts; an error shows a toast and rolls the cell back.
  • Kanban cards: drag a card to the next column; the card's drawer offers the same moves as buttons. Moves the system does not allow are refused with a message.
  • Roles matrix: click a level cell to cycle None → View → Edit → Full. Changes bite within seconds for signed-in users.
  • View-only roles see the same cells as plain text.

Drawers, dialogs and pages

Quick edits open beside the list; multi-step work gets a dialog; anything with history gets a page.

  • Drawer (slides in from the right), a single record with its actions: a booking, a guest, a work order. The list stays visible behind it. Esc or the × closes it.
  • Dialog (centre), wizards and confirmations: the new-booking wizard, check-in, taking a payment, supervisor authorisation. Destructive actions always confirm first.
  • Page: the POS terminal, kitchen display, reports and settings tabs, which need the whole screen.
